Ambient Aerosols: Influence of Meteorology and Biogenic Contributions
The study of ambient aerosols in our group is currently exploring two directions:
- The contributions of biogenic emissions to ambient aerosols, which need to be distinguished from anthropogenic contributions for purposes of air quality regulations and implementation of aerosol effects in global climate models.
- The impact of meteorological conditions, in particular the availability of liquid water in the atmosphere, on aerosol particles.
Using both new measurements and archived data of ambient aerosol properties together with meteorological parametersand tracers of biogenic and anthropogenic contributions in different environments, we gain insight into the relative importance of these processes.
